Eight NATO Soldiers Killed Today in Afghanistan

9 Nato Soldiers KilledSadly today eight NATO soldiers were killed. Seven of those are confirmed as being soldiers belonging to the United States. The seven soldiers were part of a foot patrol and were killed in two individual improvised explosive device explosions that struck the patrol as part of the same attack, according to Major Tim James, a spokesman for NATO.

In addition, an unrelated helicopter crash in eastern Afghanistan Thursday killed one other soldier, Maj. James said.

The IED explosions were the deadliest since seven soldiers from Fort Lewis were killed Oct 27, 2009 and the deadliest day overall for coalition forces since April 27th.
