Fundraising Goal of $1,000

On March 31st, 2011, Operation Ward 57 set a fundraising goal of $1,000 to purchase items both requested and needed by patients and the staff that aid in their recovery. Thanks to YOU, our supporters, we were not only able to meet but we exceeded this goal. In the span of one day time we raised over $2,170. That is INCREDIBLE!

With your donations we were able to purchase the following:

  • Computer Stands
The computer stands allow computers to be used bedside by both the patient and the nursing staff. Use of the computer allows patients to stay in touch with their military units, friends & family. Nurses are able to preform charting by the patients bedside allowing for quicker medical
  • Storage Containers
Wounded soldiers spend weeks if not months living in the hospitals. Storage containers are necessary to hold and secure their personal posessions that extend beyond the government issued pillow, bed gown and bathroom gear.
  • DVD’s & Video Games
DVD’s and video games are an excellent tool in pain management through the use of distractor techniques. They also provide a social tool as many patients compete and play against each other on the hospital wards.
  • Children’s Toys
Many of the patients have children or younger family members staying and visiting them during their recovery period.
  • Cork Board
Cork boards are provided to maintain sanitary conditions in a patients room while providing a place to hang personal items and get well cards from the general public.

…and many more items too numerous to list!

NOTE: Due to HIPPA and Army Policy, we are unable to show direct photos of the patients & the ward itself. Sorry supporters.
