Nick Firth’s Fifth Alive Day

Jun 9, 2011

Nick Firth
Today marks the fifth “Alive Day” for Nick Firth. Nick Firth, a former patient of Ward 57 and current Board Member of Operation Ward 57, was injured when his unit was patrolling a street in Samarra, Iraq. During the patrol a 155 lb artillery shell went off directly beneath his armored security vehicle. Lucky to be alive, Nick spent the next three years at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. The first 18 months was mostly spent in bed. He underwent more than 20 surgeries. Now with a leg prosthesis, he continues his musical career in his band “Writing Home.”

We are all glad that you are able to be with us as well today Nick. Happy Fifth Alive Day.
