A Hero’s Homecoming – A Crossfit Fundraiser

Apr 29, 2013

chaz croppedFriends of Operation Ward 57, we would like to ask your help in supporting a great cause. Even the smallest of donations will make a difference.

On January 22, 2011, while on a dismounted patrol in the Zhari district of Afghanistan, Chaz stepped on an IED. He instantly lost both legs and broke his elbow. After years of care in Walter Reed’s Ward 57 and with the support of his family, Chaz has made amazing progress and recently retired from military service. He and his wife, Jessica (formerly Collins), are now looking to settle their family in her hometown of McMinnville, TN. As you can imagine, building an accessible home for Chaz’s needs takes considerable funding, and with this we ask for your help.

On Saturday, May 18th, also the day we in the US celebrate Armed Forces Day, a fundraiser workout will be held to pay tribute to Chaz’s service and that of all our beloved service men and women. As the CrossFit community is such ardent supporters of our military and cherish the opportunity to “do work” in their honor, nothing could seem more appropriate. The workout, to be announced and in CrossFit fashion, will be infinitely scalable so that all can participate. “Base camp” will be at CrossFit Middle Tennessee, but it is our hope that numerous CrossFit affiliates will join in and participate (map and list on the website).

All donations are tax deductible and go directly to the Allens. Idea of the workout a bit much or have plans that day? We understand, but ask that you register and donate anyway. Please join me in spreading the word and supporting some of our own, a local family that proudly served all of us and now it is our opportunity to express gratitude and give a little back. Thanks!

Registration Only – $10

Registration plus Event Tshirt- $30
