Today marks the annual Military Spouse Appreciation day, a day to commemorate and acknowledge what is considered one of the toughest jobs in the military. Thank you to all of the spouses out there and the contributions as well as sacrifices you have made.

Operation Ward 57 Celebrates Nurses Week at Walter Reed Army Medical Center May 6th-12th, 2012. We will be delivering delicious treats to staff as well as raising awareness of the wonderful things they make happen on a daily basis working with our nations wounded heroes.

Operation Ward 57 took part in the “6th Annual Leavenworth Ale-Fest 2012″ event. Thanks to the hard work of our volunteers, we helped to raise thousands of dollars for our nations wounded heroes! A big thank you to our supporters and the Leavenworth Nutcracker Museum for allowing us to be part of this event for a second year in a row.

This Sunday, April 15th marked the start of National Volunteer Week. This week, established in 1974, is a week in which we, as a nation, recognize the contributions of those that volunteer their time for the greater good of those around us. Thank you to our volunteers who, without their support, our organization would not be what it is today.

Operation Ward 57 is providing an opportunity for wounded soldiers & their loved ones to attend a concert event with Country Arrist Dierks Bently on April 18, 2012 around 6pm in Spokane, WA. Prior to the start of the concert, guests will be treated to a special meet and greet event. This opportunity is possible thanks, in part, to Dierk’s management.

Staff Sergeant Oliver Hughes celebrates his first “Alive Day” today. Hughes lost his left leg in Afghanistan on April 13, 2011.

Operation Ward 57 would like to recognize Wil Havens and his promotion to Sergeant First Class. He is a former nurse and wardmaster at Walter Reed as well as a strong advocate for patients rights and care. Havens has also been a supporter of our organization through the years. Congratulations on your well deserved promotion.
