The Independence Fund

Founded in 2007, The Independence Fund is committed to empowering our nation’s catastrophically wounded, injured, or ill Veterans to overcome physical, mental, and emotional wounds incurred in the line of duty. We are dedicated to improving the lives of both our Veterans and their families. Through our Mobility, Caregiver, Adaptive Sports, Advocacy, and Family programs, The Independence Fund strives to bridge the gap of unmet needs for Veterans and their caregivers. www.independencefund.org/

Wounded Warrior Project

Every warrior has a next mission. We know that the transition to civilian life is a journey. And for every warrior, family member, and caregiver, that journey looks different.

We are here for their first step, and each step that follows. Because we believe that every warrior should have a positive future to look forward to. There’s always another goal to achieve, another mission to discover. We are their partner in that mission. www.woundedwarriorproject.org

Rumsfeld Foundation

The Rumsfeld Foundation was established in 2007, building on the work of the Joyce and Donald Rumsfeld Foundation, established in 1985, which continues to support a wide range of charities from national parks and educational programs to cultural and health initiatives.  Joyce and Donald Rumsfeld decided to create the Rumsfeld Foundation to focus their philanthropic efforts by encouraging public service in the United States and promoting free political and economic systems abroad.

Over the past six years, the Foundation has granted over 115 fellowships for U.S. graduate students and young leaders from Central Asia, provided over $2.7 million in microfinance grants, and donated more than $1.4 million to charities for our troops, veterans, and military families.  As the organization continues to mature and grow, we look forward to expanding our efforts and working toward a better future for years to come.

All of Donald Rumsfeld’s proceeds from the sales of Known and Unknown will go to the military charities supported by the Rumsfeld Foundation.
