Reflection Upon Anniversary of 9/11

WTC l Operation Ward 57Politicians, celebrities, musicians and sports teams make a special effort to reach out to our wounded troops recovering from their war injuries at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. Sometimes it’s chaos up on Ward 57 with all of the visitors and this week’s headlines about the NY Mets visit highlights a very important point.

Met’s player, Luis Castillo who did not attend the visit said, “Sometimes when you see people with no legs, no arms, (from) when they fight, and to also be in the hospital like that, I don’t like to see that.” http://www.thestate.com/2010/09/10/1457579/ny-mets-hospital-trip-hurts-image.html

No one likes to see our young men & women who could be getting a college education or enjoying a baseball game, cut from the prime of their lives. But this is the result of their choice to serve our country, it comes with the jobs of wearing the uniform of the United States of America.

If you are an American than these are your troops, your neighbors, your children and your friends and they have no arms or legs and brain damage and trauma and pain. It’s not pretty and they need your support, not a blind eye.

The troops serve America and they go where they are sent. When they come home and however they come home, we must welcome them and honor their sacrifice. That’s why we started Operation Ward 57, so these brave service members would be provided with comfort, care, compassion and items necessary in their recovery as well as those who take care of them 24/7.

For the wounded, the fight never ends. Please help them with their fight and donate $9.11 today.
