IRAQ & AFGHANISTAN REMEMBRANCE RUN 2011
Remembrance Run 2011 | Operation Ward 57Following the successful Amica Insurance Seattle Marathon Baghdad Shadow Run, which took place in Baghdad, Iraq in November 2009 organized by LTC Mark Piccone, The Seattle Marathon Association, Amica Insurance and Operation Ward 57 have come together to present the 2011 Iraq/Afghanistan Run for Remembrance in honor of those who died or were wounded in combat operations in Iraq and Afghanistan. The race will be a part of the Seattle Marathon, half Marathon and 5K on November 26th and 27th, 2011.

To register for the Iraq/Afghanistan Run for Remembrance on Nov 26th and 27th please email brittney@operationward57.org You will then be forwarded the registration form which can be faxed or mailed back. The 5K race is Nov 26th at the Seattle Center. Cost is $30. Wounded service members are free. The 1/2 marathon and full marathon are Nov 27th at the Seattle Center and Remembrance Runners are $75 full marathon, $65 half marathon.

 


SPECIAL T-SHIRTS AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE:
The Seattle Marathon Association has designed Remembrance Run shirts as a way for everyone to get involved and show their support for the troops. These shirts will celebrate the connection between Seattle runners and U.S. service members. Iraq/Afghanistan Remembrance Run 2011 Shirts will be $15 each.$5 from the sale of each shirt will be donated to Operation Ward 57 (www.operationward57.org), a nonprofit organization, that supports programs and services for injured U.S. servicemen at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Washington D.C.

All races are open to the public and anyone can participate. Wounded Soldiers AND those that run with them if the wounded warrior needs assistance can run in the 5K for free. Wheelchairs and handcrank bikes are allowed.
