Double Amputee Cpl. Carlos Torres named Marine of the Year for 1st Marine Division

Recently Cpl. Carlos Torres was named Marine of the Year for 1st Marine Divison.

Cpl. Torres is an infantryman with Company D., 1st Tank Battalion. He is a double amputee of his lower limbs due to injuries sustained while serving in Afghanistan in 2011.

Torres is an inspiration. After recovering from his injuries he went on to race the Los Angeles Marathon during the hand cycling event in a time of 2 hours 38 minutes. He has plans to participate in future events.

Recently, his brother in arms presented him with his NCO swords.

This recognition is well deserved Cpl. Carlos Torres as you display the best that the Marines and America, as a whole, have to offer.
