Help Students & Amputee Bears Head to FCCLA Nationals!

Mar 5, 2016

Operation Ward 57 friends we need your help! Please consider donating a few dollars to help these amazing students out. We have been so honored to have them making these bears. Let’s help them get to Nationals to be recognized for their amazing work. If you can’t donate, please share.

Here is the story: St. James High School’s Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) chapter recently went to Charleston, SC for the annual leadership conference, where we presented our handcrafted Amputee Teddy Bears, made for the children of wounded warriors, and WON GOLD!

Each Teddy Bear is customized to match the wounded warriors’ specific amputation or injury, military branch uniform, and custom name-tag. Each bear is a free gift to the child/children of the wounded warrior. In addition to providing comfort and emotional support, these bears also serve as an educational tool.

As regional winners, we have been invited to the FCCLA National Competition in San Diego, CA, July 3 to 7, 2016. Unfortunately, the cost for registration, travel, and hotel for five students, one chaperon, and one teacher to attend is WAY beyond our means.

If you could help us AND the Teddy Bears get to the West Coast, it would mean the world to us! Many thanks!
